So I got this 1 red sex link (Henny Penny) that just started laying a little over a week ago. About 19 weeks of age. Since she started laying, I've noticed that she walks around with her wings kinda spread...not full spread but kinda just out a little off of her body? Is this typical for a hen that's laying eggs? Or is she just hot and trying to vent under her wings? The only reason I ask is because most of my other hens keep their wings all the way tucked into their bodies. And they're not laying yet. And I just noticed that 1 of my other Maran hens just started doing it also today. Plus I think she's (the Maran that is) doing the making an egg song just like Henny Penny has been doing since she started laying, although a little quieter. Just an observation...let me know What y'all think.

Is it possible she is squatting for you? They spread their wings a bit when they do this. Are her wings always out, or just when you are nearby? Ours practiced the egg song before they started laying. Now they do it when they are close to laying, they just laid, someone else laid, or if someone else is singing it too.

Well Henny penny, has been laying for almost 2 weeks now and she keeps her wings out all the time. They usually don't have their wings out when I'm near except Henny penny now. I just checked and there was no other eggs. Henny penny lays in the a.m. And it's afternoon now and she's already layed for today. So maybe...

I am absolutely not anywhere near being an expert...but, it has been 100+ and all six of them have all starting fluffing up and holding their wings out and none of them are laying.

You're probably right, it has been hot here, not quite 100, but close...she should be getting close to laying though, her comb has gotten bigger and is getting redder. My other rsl, has gotten a bigger and redder comb than my hen that is laying but yet no eggs from her yet...so who knows...lol!
