I think me only having the 4 girls and 1 Roo is harder to re-integrate b/c they REally know she's been "gone" GWIM? ((even thought i've let them look at each other still between wire EVERY day))

So TODAY I tried to get my broody re-integrated again and the ROO, who otherwise was trying to break apart the "fights" with the girls now saw my broody challenge one of the other "girls" and I guess he's mad at that so HE was going after her too! To the point where he cut her comb a little (not horrible but a tad of blood) but STILL--they ALL grew up together, she was ALWAYS at the bottom of the order and now...

IDK what the Chicken Poo to do. Get rid of them all...she's my favorite and I won't have her beat up...she RUNS over to me wanting me to pick her up

I'm going to try the one at a time re-integration like someone recommended but any other advice? Has anyone else had this happen? SURELY

I only have one coop and there actually in the run and the babies in the "coop" part...

I actually think its more the "girls" fault though b/c thats who originally is starting it...roo roo was trying to solve the issue until today

Can I ask...where was the broody during separation? and for how long? Could the others see her during her separation?

They actually could for most! She was in the "coop" area when she sat the whole time she was broody and they were in and out---i never felt the need to REally seperate her and watched her well and they all handled it well...she stayed on the eggs, ect.

Then, when I heard my 1st cheeps (we aren't set up for this! she went broody on me by suprise

my 1st EVER! ive only had them a yr!) I closed her off from the others by keeping the others in the run and her in the "coop" part...we have a good sized coop for them and I let the bigs free-range during the day and when babies were all born left her and them out in the run area and then had to put them ALL back up at night. Fun times

This also means putting them up from a ladder every.single.night to roost b/c they have no way up to the rafters with the coop closed off...((they coicidently sleep there anyways...its hot in FL alot and i think they like the breeze when its REALLY hot so that's just where they've all gone...silly chickens!!)

Anyway, I appreciate all the help! UPDATE from last time is that I went to "get everyone up" tonight and ELLIE my momma was ROOSTING up there!!!? How she got through the top part of the coop we tried closing off ? but obviously she is determined to be back there with them

The two "problem" girls went and "smelled" her though and didnt peck her? Does that mean anything?
