Another chicken acting sick after one died suddenly

I checked yesterday for an egg, but didn't feel anything. She is drinking and eating on her own today, and clucking at me. So she seems to have perked up. I will keep monitoring her stools, and give her more nutridrench. See if I can find a vet to test the chickens, I think they are still sick with something. Thanks again!

. Hope your girl is doing better. Saw where you said something about heating pad. I would recommend not using a heating pad. Ask any small animal vet and they will tell you animal getting burned, overheating and dying all to common. Instead you can make a dandy homemade heated box with two cardboard boxes, 2 liter pop bottles, newspaper, thermometer and a blanket. First box is big enough to just fit bird and sits in second box that is big enough for first box to nest inside and have 2 liter bottles full of hot water in between. That way you don't worry about bird knocking over water bottles. Use thermometer to keep temp 90°. Use wadded up newspaper to insulate and a blanket to cover. All supplies needed are easy to keep handy, disposable to lessen disease spread, and only thing you might need to buy is $4 thermometer. I have used concept on calves, lambs, goat kids, kittens, puppies, and of course poultry. You will be surprised by how steady and how long this set up holds heat. I try to also set up off the floor with something to insulate bottom. Hope all reading are safe from all this wild stormy weather. Have a blessed day.

Did you check inside her vent for an egg? Can you post a picture of her poop? I ask because of what I saw in this picture:


If that's poop, it looks like it's almost pure urates, which could mean that she is severely dehydrated. Probably a good idea to get 50 ml per pound of fluids into her each day. Start by giving 15 ml per pound now, repeat in 60-90 minutes if crop has cleared. Repeat again in 2-4 hours. With this amount of fluid she should start to poop clear.

I have switched to a lamp I was using with my baby chicks, 75 watt. And put a roost in with her that she's using. I also raised the food and water up and that seemed to help.

She was definitely dehydrated, I gave her water and nutridrench by hand yesterday. Today she is drinking on her own and drinking alot. I checked inside her vent yesterday, no egg, no blood.

I would give her the nutridrench twice a day. Make sure to slowly put it in side of her beak. I'm glad she made it threw the night that is a good sign. Try and get her to eat and drink as much as possible. She needs her strength.

So her stools seem to be normal now. She's continuing to eat and drink on her own. But still breathing with her beak open, maybe a bit wheezy. Moving around better and clucking more.

Thats a great improvement that she is eatting and drinking now. If at all possible you might want to take her to a vet to check her out. It still doesn't sound good with her breathing like that. She may need an antibiotic.
