My Sussex were very human oriented and often reacted to me -- racing over when called and super curious. They were a group of four purchased together and I really enjoyed them for quite awhile... then we lost one of them to a dog attack. It changed both the group dynamics and their personalities. Actually, maybe it just changed MY interactions with them (I am just realizing) because we do not let them out of their run as much, so they do not have the opportunity to interact with me as much. Their eggs are medium size and light brown.
Two of our chicks from this year that have just begun to lay, a Sapphire Gem and an Australorp, are super friendly. True lap chickens. I'm not sure if we just did a better job with the chicks or if it is genetics.
