Anyone want to play a game of hen or roo? These F1 olive eggers are throwing me for a loop with their pea combs. They are small but very red. The hatch mates with single combs are very obvious who are boys. But these ones aren’t obvious (to me). Help! One blue bird and 2 splash birds. They are 6weeks old tomorrow. I have my suspicions they are boys.

I’m no expert either, but from past experience, I was accidentally given straight run from Tractor Supply and 2 roosters I ended up with started crowing around that age. I had to rehome them asap.

Sometimes females just have big combs, my poor girl got mistaken as a rooster the other day.

Oh geez sorry I’m half awake here and thought your concern was the size of the comb. Still though, so the roosters I’ve accidentally received all started crowing early on. Thank you neighbors for being understanding 😪

Pea combs can be a real challenge. Those chicks don't have beards so will be easier. Watch for WATTLES. Growth of those with comb growth is the key. Straight combs don't pink until getting close to lay. Other types of comb can pink early.
