ok i forgot to say that my grass isnt flat and slightly slanted. does anyone reccomend anything as far as placing a run or coop on the grass? i have a rabbit and a tortoise who atm are part time sharing a large run. we find it hard to place it without it being gaps underneath not huge but still. luckily the bottom is covered in a plastic netting. however the chickens will be out there permanently so i want a way to solve this problem for good.

Well, with the chickens, the grass will be gone in no time. I say a wire skirting is the best way to go, or bury the wire if possible as preds will dig under to get them.

I agree with silkie.

My run had lots of grass in it. It was gone within a week.... right down to the bare ground.

Yes , our grass was totally bare in less than a week . DH added sand in the run area and now they are playing and dusting with the sandand dirt . They love it

im not talking about the amount of grass im talking about the ground itself it isnt flat. its slanted and lumpy. it goes up and down
