That’s right, I’m literally right back at it, less than a week after my last hatch!
Another family wanted 12 chicks, so here I am hatching more! I will be hatching them at home, and all eggs are from my own chickens, now that most are laying again. I am actually quite excited to see some of the crosses that will come from this!
I’m thinking maybe a loosely Western/Cowboy theme for this hatch-a-long! They can just be western sounding names, references to a film/actor, name of a city, etc. I grew up watching Westerns with my dad and riding horses, and that was just the first thing that popped into my head when I was trying to come up with a theme! It’s a little bit nostalgic for me.

Anyway, some info about my birds and the potential crosses. I’ll probably share pictures of the parents below in the comments tomorrow! I’ll be setting the eggs sometime tomorrow once I get the bator nicely sanitized.
My Roo: “Colonel Potter”
50/50
Silver-Laced Wyandotte/Buff Orpington
My hens:
“Cricket” Ancona (setting 4 of her eggs) white eggs
“Acorn” Easter egger (setting 4 from her - these crosses were so cute last time!!) blue eggs
“Olga” Naked Neck - potential cross, brown layer
“Juni” Red Partridge Rock - potential cross, brown layer
“Beans” Speckled Sussex - potential cross, brown layer
“Mabel” same breeds as Potter, full siblings - potential cross, brown layer
“Forks” Ameraucana I think, but I’m fairly confident she’s not laying, but she does lay blue eggs when she is. She is much older than the other girls.
My problem is that I can’t distinguish which of my brown/cream colored eggs belong to which of my hens
I tried to pick some that looked different from each other, so that there will hopefully be some variety.
I’m setting 4 white eggs from my Ancona, 4 blue from my Easter egger, and 4 brown from the various breeds listed above. I’ll also put an extra one in just in case.
I got a 100% hatch rate out of my 19 eggs last time around (was not expecting that!!), but I just feel like the odds of that happening twice in a row is very slim! (But would be so magical!)
Here are the eggs:
Please join me for another hatching journey! I’m having so much fun with all of this.

I will update once I set the eggs! Yeehaw!
