Another Hatch-a-Long! Western Theme - Yeehaw!

Pics
Did the power come back on yet? You did great with the blanket, that is exactly what you should do. Eggs have a lot of mass and hold their heat for quite some time. In nature the hen can get off the nest for an hour or so in search of food or a predator nearby. As long as the heat comes back on in a few hours, usually they do ok.
I hope the power came back! Keep huddled, Western Chickies!

I didn’t update last night, oops! But yes - the power was off only for about 45 minutes. When it turned back on, the incubator temp had only dropped to 89.5 degrees internally which isn’t too bad for that long. Hopefully it didn’t negatively impact them! I can’t imagine that being any worse than a broody getting off the nest for a while. I was nervous there not knowing how long it would be out! The power company messaged us saying they would have an estimated repair time available to us in the next 24 hours, so that really gave me a scare! I thought maybe it would be up to a day with no power. Very happy that was not the case!

So glad to hear it! Hopefully the rest of the chicks make it to hatch. 😊

I don't think 45 mins will hurt anything, might delay hatching by half a day, or not. I think it's all good. 🥰
