BIIIIG pip from 3! My dog has joined me in the closet to listen to them chirp.

YAY!!!

Eggs 5 (Doc), 12 (Lainey), and 10 (Calamity Jane) are pipped!!!

And 11 (Lasso) is rocking and rolling and chirping, so definitely pipped internally!

I think Calamity Jane is starting to zip!

2, 6,7,9,11 are also pipped now just in the last couple of hours! 4 and 8 have been wiggling that I’ve seen, just not quite pipped yet. But it’s still kind of early! We’re nearing the end of day 20 so I think some will hatch in the night and most will emerge tomorrow. I’m sitting in my closet under the stairs with a flashlight talking to a bunch of eggs. I’m glad my husband understands the girl he married lol!! 🤣View attachment 4304466
Go little ones, GO!

Morning update please. :pop😁🥰

Good morning!!!
Well I awoke to
(4) Pendleton! @2ndTink (Ancona cross)
This is so exciting because my Ancona wasn’t even black when she was a chick, so interesting! To see this mix!

10 Doc! @Sefirothe

And 11 Lasso @SemiSweet2391 (I’m pretty sure but I can’t see the number on the shell at the moment)

I am guessing a little bit based on their coloring but I’m fairly confident.

I’ll know more when others hatch!

7 Annie Oakley is literally zipping out as I’m typing! She is another Ancona cross!

Just wanted to share because I am curious and found it interesting!

All of my crosses between my roo (SL Wyandotte x Buff Orpington) and my Ancona, are hatching out black with yellow tips on their wings and a yellow chin/facial markings!!

I’m just so fascinated. Yes my Ancona has a lot of black, BUT as a chick, she was actually mostly a lemony-yellow with just a touch of black. I thought the babies would certainly have black, but that it wouldn’t present until later. My rooster is white with some black lacing in his tail feathers so obviously carries the lacing gene.

Just interesting that neither parent as a chick was entirely black yet the babies are! I love it!!

Here was dad as a chick:

And mom (the Ancona) you can see she’s mostly yellow with a black back and spot on her head
