Another Hawk!

CW is correct in the main.

Birds of prey are protected under federal law and you cannot molest or kill them. This was done due to abuses in the early 1900's involving the trade in feathers.

That being said, people today are not total idiots. These are animals and do not know the laws of man. That is understood.
You may trap, shoot or kill them under certain situations but you must prove dire need, such as rampant livestock deprivation.

However, a few hobby chickens are unlikely to elicit sympathy from the government watch dogs paid to keep an eye on you. Some understand your situation, but others stand on policy and consider you a felon if you take such matters into your own hands.

NOTE: You will see the acronym "S.S.S." mentioned in this context, sooner or later. It means, "Shoot, Shovel, Shut-up." I only mention it so you aren't left in the dark. Such action is not endorsed by BYC or any of it's members.

Contact your fish and game and county extension services to get the straight story on hawks and other birds of prey where you live, before you take any action.

Birds of prey doing more good than harm ???

Perhaps you can spell out what "good" they do?

They kill wild song birds, many of those are protected species, then after they kill most of wild birds in a neighborhood they go for domestic (yours and mine) birds.

Lately uncontrolled hawks invaded most of major cities in US since they need to expand (killed most of birds in the forests)

The common perception "Hawks kill mice and rats" is very disputable.

Vermin like mice and rats are nocturnal animals, and hawks operate during the they only.

Did anybody ever scientifically proved that "most of hawk diet are mice and rats"???

This is a big LIE all hawk mercenaries are pushing on you.

lol ive used the sss on some of the neighbors dogs and cats lately,

my neighbor live a mile plus away if there animals are traveling that far to kill my chickens they needed dispatched

Some very effective ways, actually. Most of which we cannot discuss here.

yep I have a big problem with the cooper hawks, there are at least 6 in my area alone sometimes they travel in 3's was witness to all 3 trying some tactical maneuver last year on my chooks, needless to say that even free ranging them supervised requires at least 2 adults or more. and they could care less about me or my rock throwing which just bounced off them without so much as a flinch, and one decided to touch down and walk straight up to my coop and did not fly off until I was less than 5 feet away from it yelling. This year they have been circling but everything is covered and the weather is not nice enough for me to want to stand around while they free range so the coopers are just waiting. They are very patient.

Under nearly all circumstances, yes.

CAVEAT: Bear in mind todays eco-friendly, Greenie, Save the Planet atmosphere. No longer the stuff of hippie extermism, it has percolated to every lfacet of life.
One might find it a rather sticky situation to be caught in violation of animal protection laws, these days.

Im just sayin'...
