Well my DH went out this morning yard seling, or what I call garbage selling. Anyway he came home after totally exited. He found a couple more live trapsfor five bucks. Now I think I can wage war agianst those nasty foxes and skunks. Then he pulls out thisHova incubator and egg turner that are still in its box. He said that he paid twenty bucks for it. So far I think it works well. I am trying to adjust the temp. THe motor seems to be working as well. THe egg turner came with different sizes of trays so it can probably hold any thing from quail eggs to chicken eggs. Anyway i think he got a pretty good deal. I don't think it haas ever hatched thing out in it because there aint those stains that you can't get rid of. I have never used this brand of incubator before, and havent even had a chance to look it up on the internet. Has anyone used this incubator before?ANd how did your hatches turn out?

Does it have the fan in it too? What a find! That is all I have ever hatched in and I love mine. A new heating wafer was more than your husband paid for the whole thing. I do keep a second wafer on hand as they can go bad quickly, and it can be replaced if it happens while you are incubating.

I have done 4 hatches in mine, 90% the first two trys.(beginner's luck maybe.) 10% the third time, eggs from new hens. And I have 75% growing this trip, time will tell what the end hatch numbers will be.

If your has the adjustment for temp. like mine, that was a little tricky. Mine has a L shaped metal rod on the top with a wing nut at the bottom. By just turning the rod the temp was hard to adjust, I had to make sure the wing nut also turned at the same time.

Ours doesnt have the fan in it. And your right it is tricky to adjust the temp I have been trying to get it at about 101. but am having fits trying to get it there. LAst night my DH plunged in the egg turner out side of the incubator to make sure that it worked, and it is turning great. I put abunch of eggs in it to keep them turning while I get the temp right and every so often I go out and they are in a different position. I am qiute proud of his garabage sale finds too. I have to get the trap out to see what varmit, i can catch in it. How high do you usually set your incubator at ?

My incubator has the fan, so I run it at 99.5 or a hair under. The still airs have a slightly higher temp. if I remember correctly. Once I got it set to the temp. that I wanted it has stayed consistant, but it was work to get it right. Have fun, I am majorly jealous that you found one for that price.

And to think I told my husband that it was going to be a waste of time. I am glad he decided to go anyway. Every time I go to yards sales I end up seeing everyones old clothes, and hundred year old computers. And well just crap. Very rarley do I ever find something that is worth all the gas I spent chasing signs clear across the county. But after him packing home the incubator I think maybe I just might have to go with him this weekend. I really owe him big for getting it. It is times like this that makes me really love him more. Some girls are bought with diamonds others are bought with poultry and incubators.
