I gave some chicks to a broody last night and she seems to have accepted them ok. I'm starting to be concerned that she isn't letting them up to eat or anything though... Is that a legitimate concern, or am I just worrying too much? She doesn't seem to have moved at all since I placed the chicks with her last night - The food I left for them looks to be untouched...
Thoughts?

They can go w/out food and water until they are 3 days old. I wouldn't be concerned unless they are older than that. But, they may have gotten up and you didn't notice. I smoothed down the food so I'd know when my broody finally got the baby up for food and it looked the same. Then I saw that the baby was eating, looked later, and it still looked undisturbed LOL. They don't make a mess at first like momma does.
