Another mating question

How often should a rooster mate I have 5 hens and he is on their back 4 or 5 times a day He is a year old Will he slow down

Basically a rooster will mate as frequently as he can. ALL males slow down as we get older.

If he is causing excessive 'wear and tear' on their feathers, you can separate him periodically or invest in hen saddles for the hens. If fertile eggs are your goal, a hen can store sperm and produce viable in excess of 2 weeks after a rooster has been removed.
