Earlier I had found one of my biggest roos that I had hatched dead in the coop they sleep in. His body was brick hard but his head was limp and was green for some reason which I'm thinking decay set it. I have no idea how long he had been there (probably 1-3 days) and the body had a slight stench. He was acting perfect fine a couple days before when I saw him. I felt like one of them was missing before that but I never thought to check so yeah. Im not that upset about it but only worried that he might be gotten my other chickens sick because he just had a random death.

P.s he was also only 5 months old so there wasn't really a reason why he died I'm just asking for a friend

The temp is around high 70's-. Low 80's so I don't think he could've died of a heart stroke since they've lived in high heat all summer. The food so couldn't be moldy since we just recently bought it and the others were fine. There might be a change he was bitten but I didn't see any bite marks on him when I picked him up the only off thing is he had a green head when I found him so I'm really just hoping he died from natural causes

Also it could be from suffocation? I have 11 others and they all sleep in the same coop

Late to this conversation...I came over hoping to see pix and where you got the beautiful hen discovered that you found with several days worth of gorgeous eggs. Did the previous Chicken owners say where they got them?

Noticed that you inherited the flock - lots to learn, that's for sure? Do you count Chickens outside, let them out early in the morning, and check the Coop condition and nests daily? Can we see pix of it to help assess ventilation, space, and if a predator might have gotten to your Roo? He might have flown into a wall or had something bad happen to his neck? Hope all has gone well since then!
