This chick is supposed to be a black copper marans. I have no idea what she (?) is, though. Almost 7 weeks old. I have no idea what kind of comb, it's practically nonexistent. Slate legs that are lightly feathered. Dark grey possibly penciled feathers. Thoughts?

It looks like a Black Copper Marans chick to me at this point. The copper feathering around the neck area should come in later, but I would keep an eye out on that comb. I'm thinking at this point, based on the lack of comb development, that you have a pullet and an obvious single comb will develop soon, however if it turns out to be a rose or pea comb, you will know you have something besides a pure BC Marans.

There really isn't much comb there yet, but there is a wedge shaped spot where the comb will be. That's typical of Wyandotte pullets. Even a Marans pullet should have a pretty clear single comb by 7 weeks old, no squinting required.

With the feathering on the legs, I'm thinking it's likely a Wyandotte X Marans mix then.

I talked to the guy I got her from. It's possibly from a black copper marans rooster and a black Wyandotte hen. But would that be normal for her to look so grey?

Yes, a Black Copper Marans/Wyandotte mix seems likely. She has the rose comb of her mother (a dominant trait) and black coloration.
