Hello all, Just got my chicks this Saturday. I’d been thinking about it for a very long time. No, my choice to start now does not have anything to do with Covid. Not that that would be a bad thing, I’m just putting it out there.
I grew up with Dogs, Cats, and Horses but nothing so small and cute as chicks. We have 2 Australorps and 2 Wyandots. Grand total of 4 even though we are zoned for 5, the seller suggested that they do better in pairs. Perhaps it’s an odd-man-out type situation.
Thus far the silver lace Wyandot is the leader. And it is hilarious to see a 2 day old chick with this much attitude. The kids even built her a tiny lego dias that she sits on to serve her tiny queendom. While the rest of the chicks derp around looking cute. It's a hoot.
Other than that I am a gardener, nurse, ren fair enthousiast and sci fi loving boy mom. Having the chicks in the house is the first time girls have ever outnumbered boys. So you know I’m thrilled.
