I have been a lurker for awhile, and finally decided this year will be the year I hope I can contribute.
The first year I had chickens was about 4 years ago. I didn't get to start with chicks, someone just gave us mature chickens (standard and bantam). We ran on that for a couple of years, then picked up a few day-old chicks of varying breeds at the local coop. What a lesson there when it came to the roosters!!! After having our first year of plucking, we decided we were done with chicks for a year or two. This year we are getting more. We have a better idea of what breeds we want, we are going to build a bigger coop, and hubby wants to make a whiz-bang chicken plucker thingy so we don't spend days, meat, skin and blood trying to clean birds for our freezer.
I hope to share my second journey with chicks with everyone this year.
Thank you everyone for all your inspiration on how I want my new coop also!!!
