Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I have never raised chicks myself but grew up around them on my cousin's farm as a kid. Loved robbing the hen houses when I was a kid before breakfast. I have fond memories of those days.

We have 8 Rhode Island Reds that we purchased from the Tractor's Supply store. They were about a week old when we got them. My granddaughter and I raised them in a brooder box in her bathroom for the first 6 weeks. They all made it through the brooder stage and are now thriving well in their new Hen Hilton. That's what we call it since building it was a bit of a start up investment. Our house can support about 20 gals once we finish the other run on the oppsite side.

Well, that's about it for our intro. Please let me say ahead of time, I am sorry if I happen to ask a dumb question or two in the future. I have done tons of reading but not sure it will prepare me for all I will experience in raising our gals. Looking forward to eggs this fall.

Blessings!
