Hi y'all!
I bought a cinnamon queen last month.. she is 14mo.
Today she graced me with her first egg!
Yay!
But I'm not sure if her egg is normal.. or if it's okay to eat?
I have a barred rock, and her first egg wasn't like this..
They free range and have 24/7 access to laying feed in their coop (but they prefer free ranging).

It's fine....that looks like excess bloom, applied after the pigment.

'Speckled' eggs can happen for several different reasons...very few, if any, of which are a 'problem'.
Can be caused by:
Excess or uneven pigment coating.
Excess or uneven cuticle(bloom).
Excess calcium deposits.
Porous eggs can appear speckled.
Some birds lay them consistently, some only once in awhile.
The pigment or bloom can change appearance when wet, then change back when dry again.

As long as bird is getting a good diet and is healthy in every other way, it is no cause for concern.

Totally normal. We often forget how selective our commercial food system is. Over 2/3rds of eggs layed commercially don't even reach the consumer. Spotted eggs like that tend to get shipped at a discount to companies that use eggs to make processed foods like cookie dough or separated egg whites etc. As a chicken owner you get to see all the pretty colors and shapes that real chickens produce laying real eggs. Spots, stripes, bumps and lumps, tall skinny eggs, double yolkers and triple yolkers... Enjoy it!
