Hello,
Been a lurker since last year when I thought we would be getting chickens. Turns out we had to wait until this year.
We now have 10 chicks in the brooder (RIR, BO, BR and EE) that are happy and curious.
We moved into our house with a large backyard last summer and the first thing I thought of (after the tire swing) was chickens. Not sure where that came from since I didn't grow up with them or anything but I do love fresh eggs and the idea of chickens was just so appealing. They even got put ahead of the garden
Have had a fun time planning the coop and run and am lucky enough to be able to use part of an existing shed.
My wife and three young children love the chicks and have claimed most of them as thier own but I'm sure it's still going to be my job to do all the real work.
We live in central Jersey (Mercer county) and are transplants from Utah.
Glad I found this site and have gained a TON of information from everyone. Thanks!
Alan.
