Hi all, I'm not really new to the forum, but have never introduced myself.
I'm not native to Vermont, but I call it my home. I'm a German transplant who lived in Northern California for 8 years and have been sinking new roots into beautiful VT for two years. We found a beautiful spot in the rural countryside surrounded by woods and green land and dairy farms.
I acquired my first flock of day-old chicks in spring of '08 and just raised another batch. I have kept my flock small and manageable in part due to resistance of my husband. He has been wonderful and built a couple coops despite a multitude of other projects, but just has not gotten "into" the birds. Moreover, they have gotten into his veggie garden and that was not good for his relations with the chickens... The bridge is slowly mending, but he will never join me in my rage for chickens. This forum has been a wonderful outlet for me and it feels good to know that I'm not the lone "crazy chicken lady" out there.
