I noticed a week or so ago one of my girls had bumblefoot. This is the first time I’ve ever treated bumblefoot but I think with the knowledge I gathered here I did an ok job. Got the scab off and the root out, packed and bandaged it. Checked it today and it looks really good.
Well when I noticed the first foot the other looked like it had it as well. It had the blister on the top between the toes, which is how I noticed the first foot. However at the time I didn’t see a scab on the bottom. It didn’t look as bad as the first foot so I thought it was just coming up and that maybe the soaks would help it go away or it would come on up. What I saw today, which is what was there from the beginning is a hole, but not a scab or an open wound. I have a pair of tweezers with pointy tips to them and I tried to dig/scrab around the hole gently, not breaking the skin or anything but thinking maybe there was a thorn or sticker or such in it. I got a bit of dirt out at the edges but that was it. I’ve had chickens for a couple years but have been fortunate not to have many problems to deal with, I have no clue what this is, or if it is bumblefoot too how do I go about taking care of it? Do I make the hole bigger to get to the problem or just keep soaking and keep an eye on it??
I’m including pics of the “hole” on the bottom and the blister on the top.
Thanks guys!
