I purchased 6 Black Australorp chicks in mid March of this year. I’m not familiar with the breed and how they mature is a little different from other breeds I have. They are approximately 17 weeks now and they all scratch for bugs and grubs like hens and nobody is crowing. However, I look at them and wonder if they are all pullets. They’re very sweet birds, so sweet that I want them to be in their very own flock because my other flock of old hens are mean spirited egg eaters. I’m hoping the members that have experience with this breed will chime in and reassure me that this is an all girl gang. Thank you.
