Another quail hatch...cortunix quail this time...18 out! More PICS!

Oh dear... please find them asap... they can't handle the lower temps. I've come down in the morning to find one dead in the middle of the floor. Popped out, don't know when, but just died because of the lack of heat.

I lost a chukar like that too... bad part was I knew he was gone, but just doubted my counting ability. 2 weeks later I found him... he had gotten stuck in the base-board heater (luckily we don't use it!) and was starting to ripen pretty bad. I don't know how they do it, but they will. I hope you find him in time!!!

I found it! Just as I was heading to the door there it was.....just waltzing across my dinning room floor. They are all safe and a lot more secure now. Here is one of the little runaways..

That heater story ...well...that was my worst fear. How awful

I lost a salamander in my house when I was a kid...we found it a year later when we moved the fridge....

And the other quail (newborns) are doing great. Yet to lose a one (hahaha....I am lucky these ones cant get away!). They are really active and moving around. No runts at all. I am up to 21 of them so far. Here are some...

And then....drum roll......I found a silkie in my bator! On my way off to work again (man it was hard to get out the door today lol). No one else out of their shells yet still but this is way fun to watch and I have 4 whole days I don't have to go off to work. That silkie was a little early.

All of these eggs came from BYC members (Thank you guys!)

oh you are SOO lucky!! I have been waiting anxiously for my Bator to come in the mail ( I bought one off of eBay) & it looks as thought the guy is a flake and isn't going to send it to me afterall!!

Thank goodness I paid with paypal, so I won't lose out on the $$, but I was REALLY hoping to get that bator, so we could hatch some chicks.

Yours are just ADORABLE!! It's amazing how fast they feather & fluff, isn't it? They are sooo sweet!!

Look at the feathering on the feet of that silkie!!! Wow!! Can't wait to see what she looks like all grown up!

Looking at your picture of the quail makes me itchy to hatch some more. I have a whole bowl of coturnix eggs that I've been saving now to make pickled eggs.
