another question

we have some chicks with mum which are 5 weeks old, when we went to let them out this am, there was a fresh egg, should we take mum away from chicks and place her back with other hens or do we place mum and chicks with the other 9 hens. can anyone help

If wouldn't put the chicks with the other hens yet. Not until they are at least 12 weeks old. Mom probably is done with the chicks so I would put her back. You will have to reintroduce her though.
