If this question is already posted I apologize now cause I did look and didnt find it..

What I was wondering is I have 9 one day old males coming soon... and I was wondering if I raise them together from day one if I will still need seperate housing for them when they become roosters.. (I have a large RIR that I keep housed seperate because hes kinda mean and I dont trust him but I didnt raise him).. I am kinda hopeful that the demeanor of day olds I raise together by hand will make them more tolerant of each other. Any info will be greatly appreciated...

I have 2 Roos....in one pen with 11 ladies. They do get to free roam MOST of the day...out between 9 and 10 am, and in by 8 or 9 pm. The boys do scuffle at times...but have calmed down since early spring. I was sure I was going to have to get rid of one this spring. The battle was so bloody. These boys have been raised together since hatch. Just like brothers, they will always have thier scuffles.

If they're raised together, they will likely get along just fine after they get their peck order figured out. From what I've noticed, roo/hen ratios are more for the hens' benefit than the roos!

ok great... I already know Bob (my RIR) can not be with them but it is good to know that I have a great chance of keeping the rest together in one cage.. Thanks so much....
