Questions about a goose hatching goslings.

Poor goslings. They are tough, so hopefully they will be okay.
We've lost 4 this year already inside. So far both are still alive. One is sitting up and chirping. The other however is still curled up and only moving its head a bit. It probably should have been put in the incubator but I was just worried about getting it under heat and I instinctively went for the brooder plate.

How many eggs is the mom sitting on?. I had trouble with too many eggs in my first batch and lost a few that couldn't get out from under the pile. Second batch I thinned them out to 7 eggs. 4 hatched.

The goslings we lost were from indoor incubation one died after a rough assisted hatch and the other 3 died within 7 days of hatching.. As for whats under her. Could be little over a dozen. She originally had 9 and Greta was still laying at that time. And then when Greta started sitting and I gave up indoor incubation for goose eggs and tried to put the last unincubated 6 under Greta but she kept trying to bite me. And now that Greta was booted shes got all those eggs to lol. Minus 2 since 2 goslings are what hatched.

Both made it through the night. Mama has another baby under her chest. I picked it up and she hissed but when I put it back down she started covering it with nesting material? It looked like there was another pipped egg under her as well. I have to wait to reintroduce the two as we had to run some surprise errands.

She took them pretty easily. One hiss but I think its a "Put it down" hiss when I hold them. The two lighter beaks are the ones we had to rescue from our other goose. I pulled out a pipped egg I've had my eye on and unfortunately it was a goner. So she has one less egg under her. But yeah I think shes gonna be a good mama so far.
