Hi all,

I know there are other posts on sneezy/wheezy ducklings, but I am hoping someone can weigh in on antibiotics vs oxine or both. I have some ducklings who are slightly congested. Took them to the avian vet yesterday and he said: "they seem very healthy, their lungs sound great, but they have a lot of boogers" (yes, he said that). He said I just needed to clear their nares: I asked him to send me home with antibiotics anyhow and I have oxine coming tomorrow. Today they are no different, though I've given them water to clean their nares.

The question is, can I combine antibiotics with the oxine misting? Should I start with the oxine? How worried should I be if the vet is not worried?

When I use Oxine ah I mix 3/4 cup Oxine into a gallon of water then pour into a garden sprayer not the pump kind just the hand held that have different sprays I put it on mist and spray over their heads so it gently lays on them from above. Never used it for any kind of respiratory problem though just after anyone was here or I had been anywhere here people had poultry. https://www.shagbarkbantams.com/the-many-uses-of-oxine-ah-animal-health/

Note to Lisa: If you use Oxine, definitely be sure that it is not as concentrated as this if you ARE using a pump kind.
