Another thread about breed selection.

Am going to get 15 or so pullet chicks and 1or 2 roosters. We are in KY so we get some of all the weather, from fairly hot summers to cold spells in the winter.
We are looking for fairly docile birds, good layers but not necessarily production type birds. Have already selected Barred Rocks and Buff Orpingtons as they are some of my favorite breeds. Looking for ideas of breeds that would be compatible with those.

Get Easter Eggers. The are a mixed type of breed,,,,,, but produce wonderful colored eggs. I had 3 chicks from same bin,, and each produced a different shade of egg. One light blue,, one olive, and one pinkish.
BTW EE are cold hardy as well.
