Ok i am not trying to offend anyone but this is just my thoughts on how i feel about people buying animals out of pitty from TSC.

Ok so alot of people on here usually complain about how bad TSC is to their chicks and stuff but then they go on to say how they felt bad for the chicks and or ducklings and so they end up buying a couple that they feel sorry for...ok this just does not make sense to me...if you are going to complain about how they treat the animals and then you go and buy some YOU are contributing to the deaths of the baby chicks and ducks. Your not helping the babies at all because there will be other ducks and chicks that are not so lucky to go home with you...As a consumer every time you purchase an item you are showing that you will buy the object so the store will buy more since you have shown interest in the object. So when you buy those chicks and ducks you feel sorry for you are just telling TSC to buy more. So if you really want to help the animals buy them from a friend or from a fellow BYC member and tell your friends and everyone you know, that is looking to buy chicks, what TSC does and then to get the chicks somewhere else. You may not think your making a difference because you are just one person you are wrong. The less people that buy chicks from TSC the less babies they will order the next year because they didnt make a decent profit the previous year.
And i understand that yes it may be a little more exspensive to buy the eggs or chicks from someone else but at least you will know the animals are actually cared for and that the person selling them isnt in it just for the money.

I hear what you are saying...
but..if i see an animal suffering..i'm going to help it out FIRST... and worry about TSC SECOND..
Just my opinion..

I agree...only one way to stop the cycle and that is quit contributing to said cycle. Whether it be TSC or any other feed store, they have no business getting chicks if they can't take care of them until they are sold. The best thing is complain to the manager and move on.

and i understand that but when you buy the sick ones that you see while you are there you are saving those ones but what about the other ones that get sick or are suffering when you are not there to see them....i know that I would probably end up taking some of the sick ones home so thats when i go into the store i take only enough money for what i need and then i leave. I try to not look at the chicks at all...this way i cant even tempt myself to buy the unhealthy ones...i know there probably are some in there that are sick but i will not contribute to it so i wont go and even look at them.

Yeah..i totally get what you are saying...

Yeah, I just tell them about it and offer to take it off their hands for free. I'd never pay for a sick animal, that would be counter-intuitive. The TSC here doesn't really bother me, though, so much as the puppy shop in the mall. I just don't understand why people continue to keep that place in business, all for the sake of "saving" puppies. I live for the day that place gets so little business it will be forced to shut down.

The thing to do is complain, don't stop with the store manager. They will cover tracks so it doesn't end up on their performance audit somehow. You need to go straight to the top and call the home office in TN. The change must come from the top down and on the inside of TSC. I'm a former employee. I know of what I speak. Complain, document your complaint and follow up. Be sure to ask for a call back, e-mail or letter to confirm resolution. I'm telling you it is the only way. The only thing that matters is the image or TSC Brand and the almighty dollar. Be relentless...but polite. Don't make it easy for them to write you off as some kooky run of the mill animal activist.

As far as taking home sick babies...I don't see much of an issue except it may transfer illness to your birds at home. I would discourage the purchase. It just prolongs the problem. Consider the bigger picture. If they write it off as a loss and give it to you - fine, but I would not buy the chicks that are sick and or dying.
