saw this solo swimmer while we were cleaning dry hydrants this evening, while we were spraying water she/he hung out all alone over near some reeds, when we stopped and started picking up came closer to watch. looks too dark for a mallard, not real flashy, and all alone.

If it is solid black then it is a domestic duck. If it has a white bib then it is probably mixed, possibly with very little domestic ancestry.

I did not see any bib, no one there to have a domestic duck either wonder where it came from

Probably a pet release or an escaped duck. It's a Drake more than likely. Call a local animal rescue and let them know it's there.

You know what, I think I recall @Miss Lydia saying she wanted to add a bunch of drakes to her flock, I think I'll pass on it and you can send them to her.
