I have a sort of coop that needs to be made larger and more sevure, etc. I posted pics of it on here a few days ago to see if everyone thought it was usable or not, and everyone seemed to give the green light. Anyway, it has one window on the East and two on the West that are just open holes that have tight fitting oak cabinet doors that close shut to cover the windows. I am planning on covering these with hardware cloth for the summer and maybe getting plexiglass cut for winter or just leave them closed.

We are going to add on to the north end and almost double the coop size. We have two picture windows (they don't open at all) with glass still intact in our basment that we are not using for anything else. Was wondering if we could use those for natural light, and where they would be best to put them. can i put them both sided by side on the north side? South one be southfacing?

We live in WV, and winters do sometimes get down below zero, but don't know if it will matter about window placement if they don't open. Completely confused! Ha!

If I lived in a cold clime, I would put the windows on the south side... but if they don't open in the summer then you are baking everyone in the coop.
