I know that they recommend to keep a 1:10 roo to hen ratio but could it possibly 1:15? Thankyou - Brian

Yup. It could be one rooster to 100 hens, if you like. Egg fertility won't be assured, but if you aren't trying to get more chicks, that's fine.

depends on your roo. some roos will mate with their favorite hens (sometimes too much) and ignore others.
youd have to have a super roo to fertilize more than 10 hens regularly. are you going for greatest number of fertilized eggs?
if so, you need more roos.

Ok so I have 15 standard size hens (not really) and I just want eggs to be fertile. So I was wondering if maybe a maran roo could keep 15 standard size hens fertile. The hens would be mixed.

I have heard of one roo being able to keep up to 20 hens fertile so that is why i am asking this
