I have two muscovies, acquired from a friend who didn’t know about their niacin requirements. It started with one, Duckduck who couldn’t walk anymore, after a fortnight, I got a younger duck (whose name is Goose) from their flock to keep her company.

I’m currently giving both extra niacin, though Duckduck is the main patient. She is also on meloxicam orally. I have my own physical issues and it’s difficult for me to get down to her to give her the meloxicam as often as I’d like. I also do not have an avian vet nearby so am unable to get anything specific for her that I don’t already have on hand.

Would I be able to put the meloxicam in the drinking water shared by both ducks? Or would something like aspirin be better? Goose has the start of niacin deficiency, but as she is much younger (about 2 months at a guess) she doesn’t need the anti inflammatory.
