Im glad Im not alone!=) Is your picture of an Easter Egger chick? She looks similar to one of mine.=)
Thanks for all the replies! Just an update. My little Bernice is doing good. She likes eating the crumbled yokes and is just the sweetest snuggler. She has perked up a bit in the brooder, but remains shy. But overall I'm very happy with her progress.![]()
Thanks! Me too. She is still much smaller than the other BO, Im starting to wonder if I ended up with a Bantam on accident…? I have no idea.
Im sorry! It is really stressful. Unfortunately I lost my little girl. She was the sweetest chick. I would take her out multiple times and hand feed her- mashed feed with yogurt and hard boiled yoke. She would eat for me, but she just didn't end up having the fight in her. But I know I did everything to help her that I could.I have the exact same situation with a 10 day old chick, a lace winged wyandotte. She is smaller, her wings are longer than her body, her head is normal size but her body is short. When eating she often just pecks at the red plastic and she often turns and faces the wall when the others are running around. Her poo looks different ( not as formed) but according to the poo chart it's normal. I got her the day after she was born and she slept more than the others and I didn't think she would make it but she's still here. We live in the city and I haven't found a vet that treats chickens but I'm still not 100% positive she's sick ~ maybe just developmentally slower ~ I stress over her. The other 6 are so healthy!
