Antibiotics

Ok.. I read the tutorial and it states NOT to hatch eggs when the hen has been on antibiotics. Specifically tetracycline and related drugs.
it stated that the residual drug CAN affect the development of the spine of the fetus. A percentage of incident is not listed. So I am wondering if it might be worth risking on more valuable eggs? Has anyone hatched eggs from a hen that was being treated with antibiotics with any success? My hen was not sick, but had been shipped and looked a little rough for the wear. So I gave her antibiotics as a precaution.

I'm not sure. That is an interesting question.

How long ago did you stop the antibiotics? Has she started laying yet?

antibiotics were given for 10 days. eggs were collected last couple of days of treatment and a few days after...

I guess you could give it a try. You could wait a few days and try collecting eggs again, if she is still laying well.
