I have two baby chickens...they just lost their yellow fuzz, and are now getting white feathers. Yesterday, one of them was attacked by a cat. It pulled out some tail feathers and left a small hole in it's side. Amazingly, she is doing great. My sister is a vet tech, and called a vet that she knows, and asked about chicken antibotics. I know that they arent very good, but because she was actually bitten, i wanted to get some antibotics in her to avoid infection. I tried to move her into her own little area, but both chickens(jeanette, and bernadete) were very stressed out about this. peeping and chirping, and running around like crazy looking for each other. Jeanette is the one that got hurt

. I put them back together, and they are happy. Jeanette never stopped eating, or drinking, and bernadete doesnt peck her or anything. The antibotics I got are for her water. I asked about Bernadete drinking it also, since she isnt harmed and they said she could...pretty much they said ...well it really wont hurt her ...what else can you do. IDK what else i could do...i'm new to this. I love my chickens so so much. I would do anything to help them. This morning jeanettes tail feathers looked great. You cant even tell she was bleeding there, and her wound on her side is scabbed up nicely. If you didnt know she was attacked you would think she was fine. Am I doing the right things, and should I worry about bernadete drinking the water. It's only for 6 days. Thanks guys. Im so worried im hurting my babies!

I am no expert esp. with chicks, but if she looks good and is getting better not sure if I would even use the antibiotics or maybe you can just separate her until she has had a drink with the water with antibiotics, do this several times a day so she does get some and the other one does not. hope someone with more experience can help you, but I do know chickens heal up real well for cuts and puncture wounds

thanks...that is actually a good idea,....to seperate and wait for her to drink some antibiotic...also thanks for letting me know that they have a tendency to heal pretty quick
