Don't make the mistake of bringing home a disease....buy only day old chicks from a major hatchery.

Welcome. Best advice I have to offer; space and safety, and more space and safety. For your coop and run, make it at least 3-4 times bigger than you think you need. As far as safety, hardware cloth every opening and hole and every potential hole and have a hardware cloth apron around everything to prevent digging predators.
