my class and i are trying this again we have new chicks! we are all so excited two have hatched so far does any one have any care advise for them we will take what ever advise is givin and appreciate it so much! everyone is so excited!

they have just hatched only two out of our 23 eggs have hatched they arent supposed to hatch until tomorrow (may 21, 2010) is that ok? thank you everyone on byc for all of the love help and support!

They need a warm, draft free place with a heat lamp over them so the temp is at about 90-95 for the first week. Non-slippery bedding like paper towels, not newspaper on the bottom of the brooder. we have done the research its just a new experience for us to have any survive our last batch didnt make it thank you for the advise we have a heat lamp for them when it is time to take them out of the incubator. they are not out of the incubator yet they are just hatched

YAY! New hatchlings! Be sure to have plenty of chick starter feed constantly available. Those food & water dishes available at the feed stores should help keep the peeps out of the food & water, so please be sure you have a few of each, with those 23 sets of tiny chicken feet.

Has your teacher done anything already? I'd think the teacher would have an idea of what to do, since they are teachers! He/she would surely have done the research to be ready for them, so ask him/her what plans are in place. Don't need to double up on the stuff.

Once you all are through hatching them, who's going to take them home? Please make sure they go in pairs or more, it's hard for one chick to be really happy.
