tl;dr Any guesses on breed for these three? One black/silver, one peachy with faint red stripes on her back, one black/gold striped. The black/gold striped one has feathered legs.

The longer story:
We got four sexed chicks about four weeks ago. One of them turned out to be a roo, which made my five-year-old really bummed out yesterday when I told her it’s moving to a farm in a few weeks. She and our gardener/handyman have a fun friendship, and he saw her disappointment. He also works at a hatchery sexing chicks and surprised us today with a box of three newly-hatched babies!

He had no idea what breeds they are...they were just overruns from the orders they filled today. I know it’s tough to tell breed at this age, but I enjoy the guessing game and will keep this thread updated! I’d love to know what everyone thinks!

My *best* guess (to my limited knowledge) is that the blonde & brown chick is an Easter Egger, the blonde chick is a buff orpington, and no idea on the grey chick (too many breeds start that color)!
They are adorable!

Thanks for playing along! :) I wasn’t sure if Easter Eggers have feathered legs, but I guess if it was a Cochin or Maran cross? There are so many chipmunk chick breeds out there! But not as many with feathered legs. I got a better picture of the little cutie where you can see her legs.

I didn't even see that you said feathered legs! Oooops! Haha maybe it could be a cross then! But there are multiple feather breeds of course. Like you said, there are so many breeds that might look like chipmunks! Update as they get feathers! It's soooo fun to see when you don't know breeds. I have a clutch of 2 week old chicks (complete unknown mixes from my own flock) and it's fun to see the wing feather colors now :)

The guy who gave us the chicks said he thinks the ginger chick is a RIR. That was on my short list! She's a cutie with her little red stripes.
