I completely agree. DH and I have been in a long-standing drama with some of his side of the family for this reason. We were the only ones who took a stand in a situation, even though the entire family is Christian, and now we are the black sheep. We've put it behind us and would like to move on, but other aren't. It's a difficult situation, and sad too. If we cannot point out to other Christians that their behavior is ungodly or questionable, are we not neglecting our brothers and sisters in their faith?

One praise song I love, don't know if it's been said yet, is 'Better Is One Day'.

Better is one day in your courts
Better is one day in your house
Better is one day in your courts than thousands elsewhere!

Deb .. it is soooo hard to find a church that doesn't practice quarantining .. lol. Many church people like to put their spiritual gloves and masks on and keep their distance from people that don't worship like them, dress like them, vote like them, etc. One of our pastors was talking last week about the fact that GOD BROKE QUARANTINE .. Holy God, in the form of Jesus, came down to dwell with sinful man. Mingled among us, TOUCHED the leper, ate with sinners.

We are encouraged to love the unlovable, be a light, a help, a friend, to everyone. PEOPLE are not our enemies.

Love, love love love love ... if we could only love people like God loves us, ya know?

I feel ya about the judgemental spirit, girl!

Our lead pastor is famous for sayin' .."I just catch'em, God cleans'em"

Yiddish (Hebrew spelled out)

Just an FYI: Yiddish and Hebrew are 2 separate languages. Hebrew is ancient and has its own alphabet. Yiddish is based on old German and is centuries younger than Hebrew.

You've hit on one of the most misunderstood parts of scripture. Taken *in context*, which is the only way you will understand the meaning of any scripture, if you finish reading the passage, rather than just this part, it says, paraphrasing here, that you must use the same measure to judge yourself as you judge other people. If you are doing the same wrong things, don't look at others with judgement. Get your own house in order, first, on that one aspect you are judging.

And the Bible also says to "judge righteous judgment" and that "Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?". Also, "Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?"

So, the "judge not" bumper sticker, which is what I call all out of context passages, is very much misused. I do judge, according to scripture. And I should, according to scripture. I can say "this is right" or "this is wrong" with confidence, if I have scripture to back it up. That is judgement. Judgement is not the same as condemnation.

No, we do not attend Church. There is no grace dispensational church in our area anywhere, so Richard Jordan's Shorewood Bible Church is where we "go". Remember, the early church started in the homes of believers. I think we're coming full circle from some of the things I've seen in our world today.

Agree 100% with everything Cynthia has written here!

Judging actions of another by scripture is not the same as staying away from them or being unloving. You can judge actions, not the person. The scripture tells us that we are to be harder on those who call themselves Christian and bring shame on the Body of Christ than non-Christians. And it tells proper procedure in going to a brother in Christ to help him get back on track if you see him heading down a dark path, in detail, in the New Testament (we're not talking Jewish law here). You can't "quarantine" yourself from everyone or they'll never see the Light and love of Jesus Christ.

I don't know if any of you ever listen to Josh McDowell, but he has a series called "Judge Not." I don't agree with everything Josh has to say, but the series is well worth listening to. Another is his series on Right and Wrong.

Exactly. I think was debiraymond is talking about is the way of the pharisees, who were APPALLED at Jesus for loving "those people" .. Full of their "religion", rules, and practices .. so PROUD of who they were, that they didn't have time to associate with people who weren't like them... and judged not only Jesus, but people that followed His way.

Lot's of church folks like that.

We are called to be salt and light to the world.

Blessings!
