Wow...lots of feelings around this whole marriage thing! I'm not up on the whole marriage thing, so it doesn't strike close to home with me. Must be a bone of contention in the churches?

The wife is always to submit but she must first submit to God. So it depends on what one calls "abuse" as to what her actions should be. There is so much secular psychobabble out there as to what "abuse" is that almost anything can be considered as such these days. If it is actual physical abuse, then the wife must submit to God's Word in Romans 13 and have the husband arrested. Pastor John addresses that very issue in one of his sermons from the link I posted previously.

Let's not forget that God is sovereign and nothing happens apart from either his direct or permissive will. God either causes something or He allows something BUT for the Christian it is ALWAYS for their good.

Now I must go to my prayer closet and confess my sins of envy and covetousness. Bear hunting! Do you know how long I've wanted to come to AK to bowhunt bears??? I confess. I'm jealous!

God Bless,

God Bless,

Well, this is what we are up against in our circle. Michael and Debi Pearl teach that for a wife to obtain true favor with the Lord as a submissive wife, she is required to submit to physical and emotional abuse as needed, if that is what God has for her. ( They have advised a wife to go back and submit to her dh who tried to kill her

)
They claim that if she sweetly submits to it, her husband will most likely turn out better in the end.

My original comment was before I ever commented on your post, so I'm not trying to pick on you at all

I will be posting our bear conquering for sure in the near future. You can live vicariously that way!
We fill our freezers every year with the most sweet tender meat. DH hunts with a bow, but I am not liscensed, so I use something a bit louder.

Can you tell me where Debi Pearl tells a woman to submit to an abussive husband? I seriously would like to know since in Created to Be His Helpmeet, She does not advocate staying with an abussive husband.

I am not trying to start an arguement. I know that they do not condone staying with an abusive husband, maybe years ago they believed this but I know they don't now.

I don't really havem much to say......but I DO know the Debi Pearl book is often misinterpreted, and it can cause some major problems when it is. I have a friend who misinterpreted it, and because of that she quit 4-H, being around friends, and showing horses because she said at this point in her life [as a teen] she should be preparing for marraige, and not focusing on her dreams and ambitions. BTW, she is NOT engaged or in any form of a relationship.

Giving! This has become my year of giving and I don't know quite why but God is directing my path towards more giving. I'm really getting a call to give of everything I have, whenever I have it. Are any of you feeling this as well?

My main direction lately has been to encourage local gardeners to "Grow a Row" in their garden to give away. Not even necessarily for the poor or needy, though that would be ideal, but just for the act of giving to someone who cannot grow their own, for whatever reason. Its an easy thing to do to plant a few extra seeds and easier still to offer fresh produce to people who are struggling to make ends meet.

I'm really having trouble getting folks to take the eggs that I used to sell to them....they keep insisting on paying!!! I just don't want to sell eggs anymore but I do want to offer my first fruits to others.

Anyone else feeling this call but me?

P.S. I simply LOVE how this feels!!!
