My dad has written some articles about a christian life that i would like to share, but I'm not sure where to post it. Do I post it here or start a whole new topic?

Ed, I love the story. Little kids are so cool, especially the ones like Laura Leigh who are so trusting in God's abilities and protection. We all need to look at God through the eyes of a little child, with perfect faith and trusting that He will take care of us.

All right, I waited 24 hours so I'm going to try and post this here and if need be, I'll delete it and post it somewhere else.

This was written by my dad for his facebook ministry.

The Disciple

He that has ears to hear let him hear what the spirit says to the Church… What does this mean? Simply this; those who God draws will also have ears to hear for it has been given to them that they should receive the truths of God.

One who disciples another has disciples. One who has disciples is a Rabbi. We are warned that only Christ is our Rabbi.

Matthew 23:8-10
But be not called Rabbi: for one is your Master (guide, master, teacher), even Christ (anointed, Messiah); and all you are brethren. Call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Neither be called masters (guide, master, teacher): for one is your Master (guide, master, teacher), even Christ (anointed, Messiah).

We are Disciples of none but Christ, Neither are we called to disciple any man. We are called to reveal Christ (preach the gospel) to others. Not to disciple men, but to call them to become disciples of Christ. We become a disciple of Christ when we receive the spirit of Christ. The spirit of Christ is our Rabbi for it is he that teaches us and leads us in the way of Christ.

Romans 8:14
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Matthew 28:19
Go therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit:

Mark 16:15
He said unto them, Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Luke 12:12
For the Holy Spirit shall teach you in the same hour what you ought to say.

John 14:26
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, what ever I have said to you.

1 John 2:27
But the anointing which you have received of him remains in you, and you need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teaches you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it has taught you, you shall remain in him.

The Spirit of Christ also sends teachers into the body to reveal God’s truths, We sow the word. The body is responsible for discerning the word by the spirit of Christ within. If the spirit does not bear witness to the teaching do not receive it. God’s teachers are faithful and do not teach their own doctrine. Those who teach their own doctrine are certainly not teaching under the leading of the spirit of Christ.

Acts 20:29-30
For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after themselves.

Those who teach fallacy will be judged harshly. Paul warned that false prophets / wolves would rise up not sparing the flock. They seek a following (disciples) and teach their own doctrine not Christ’s. Who is he that seeks to lay hold on the flock of God? Who will disciple the saints of God to himself? He who teaches error should be avoided.

Titus 3:10
A man that is a heretic (schismatic, factious, a follower of a false doctrine) after the first and second admonition reject;

1 Corinthians 1:12-13
Now this I say, that every one of you says, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?

1 Corinthians 3:3-4
For you are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? For while one says, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?

Denominations are not from God but from men who have subverted the counsel of God and draw away those who are young and gullible. God has never sanctioned the denominating of the body of Christ. Division is not of God, in fact Paul tells us to warn the divisive brothers twice and then reject them.

I have heard it spoken many times that “no denomination has it all right”. I have to agree with that statement and also add that no denomination is of God. Most denominations are formed when God reveals a truth to a Brother and he in turn reveals it to his Brothers. This usually brings about a movement of the spirit in the body (a period of growth). Unfortunately what usually happens shortly is that some try to market the new teaching in some way. They name it, define and explain it with countless teaching seminars and books which they charge for, this one is carnal and has received his reward. (they try to store the manna in a box for later, not understanding that it will stink and breed worms)

Some upon hearing the new revelation will refuse to receive it because it does not align with their ways and teachings. Some will withstand by human reasoning those who desire to follow the leading of the spirit and be somewhat successful, this one is carnal and condemned for subverting the body. (they are tired of manna and want to go back and eat onions and leeks in Egypt)

There is but one body and one spirit. The spirit of Christ leads us through this wilderness as the Israelites were lead by the pillar of cloud and fire. Those who would go their own way cut themselves off from the Church (congregation) of God. So it is with those who resist the leading of the spirit of Christ.

Brothers we do not follow any man but rather the spirit of Christ. When the spirit decides to move the body with a new revelation let’s remember to follow. We have an example in the children of Israel being led through the wilderness by the pillar of cloud and fire. When the pillar of cloud and fire began to move the children of Israel had to pack up and follow. There was no man appointed to stand up and say “follow me for I know the way of God” but they were lead by the spirit.

On the other hand if some had decided not to follow the pillar of cloud and fire and remained in an old and dead camp. No daily manna would come from heaven into this camp. The spiritual rock from which the children of Israel drank was gone from the presence of this dead camp also. It too followed the pillar of smoke and fire. Nothing remains in the old camp from which they were called but death and memories of the way things were in “the good old days”.

Today men who remain in the dead camps want to revive the old memories / anointing. They rehearse the ways of the old camp and name it, often after the servant who delivered the message. Those who follow the spirit closely are called by the name of God their savior for they have not taken his name in vain nor have they taken the name of another for he is their husband and they are faithful to him. If we follow the spirit how can we be deceived? It is the spirit that gives life to the disciple of Christ. Let us walk in the spirit and we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.

Christ gave us his spirit to lead us. If we follow the leading of the spirit our lives will be dynamic, ever growing into the fullness of sons of God. The written word can not lead us in this way and neither can other men. We will never become what God intends for us unless we follow this leading of the spirit.

The truth is that those who don’t walk in the spirit will not be ready when Christ returns. It is the spirit which leads us into what God desires for us, full maturity. This is the separating factor between the true Church and the false Church. Those who follow tradition or teachings of men or even the bible without the leading of the spirit can in no wise enter in to the fullness of Christ. How can one moving by the flesh know the mind of the spirit.

If we ask God he will tell us the truth. There is no need to study other disciples. He promised us if we knock it will be opened, if we ask it will be given, if we seek we will find. Why are we still seeking other men's teachings? It confuses me to see people flock around those who teach false doctrine swallowing down their poison when we have been given the spirit to guide us away from such. The spirit will lead us into all truth. He will teach us the meaning of the scriptures. And yes God uses teachers but we are not to heap them to ourselves as many do today. Don’t follow men but rather the spirit.

The same spirit which moved the holy prophets of old dwells in me. Those words which are written on the ancient scrolls are now written in my heart.

Every disciple should be part of an assembly. The five fold ministry exists for the perfection of the saints and therefore should not be discarded nor diminished.

The call is to walk in the spirit and not after every wind of doctrine. This is where all of the denominations (divisions) in the body of Christ come from. Men teach and are taught void of the leading of the spirit of Christ. It is the Disciple’s responsibility to answer the call to walk in the spirit. It is the Elder’s responsibility to ensure that the teaching is from the spirit of Christ.

In no way do I sanction rebellion in the Church. Every member has a place in the body and should submit to the Eldership as long as they are in the spirit.

Those who have the spirit of Christ rejoice when they hear the call to walk in the spirit, they receive the word with joy for they have been given ears to hear and it is a joy to them to obey the call.

Very nice posts everyone....I spend a fair amount of time at our church camp. While scripture is the reason for ones feelings in your heart....I have a need to do something with the teachings, besides just repeating them. At some point, in my opinion...actions speak louder than words.

It's important to remember, that Christ doesn't come to you. You need to come to him.

Volunteer works make me feel good inside....helping young folks that are given one last chance to straighten their life out, or the next step is prision....can be very meaningful...to me anyway.

You know how it goes..a slow start means a great finish. One thing for sure. It's never to late to be forgiven...My Lord told me so!

I know I feel more comfortable setting an example than actually witnessing about salvation to people, though I know we should do both. I am not very good at remembering exact scripture, so I usually try to bear the proper fruits and let folks ask questions.

I've been led lately to increase my efforts of putting my Christianity into action for other people and it feels wonderful!

Anyone see the news report on the oil spilling into the ocean? The oil is making the sea red and it was said that it looks like the ocean is "bleeding". The reporter discribed the sea as the color of blood.

rev. 8:8 "and a third part of the sea became blood"

rev 11:6 "and have powers over the waters to turn them to blood"

I don't believe John was describeing literal blood but the color of the seas. Selah

And a third part of the ocean creatures die, I do believe, in that scripture. That is very interesting! So far they haven't contained that spill, have they? Exciting to be living on the edge of prophesy!

Are you aware this world is going to end? That Christ is coming back? That those who believe will be raptured and those who don't will be left behind? That there are signs of His return? Exciteing yes, but at the same time concerned for those we love who have not repented of their sins.
