Any CA people need a pretty peahen?

Kathy, if you haven't already, maybe you could post a review of that feed store on Yelp to warn potential bird buyers of the danger?
It's scary to think of people infecting their flocks by bringing sick birds home unwittingly.
Yeah, I need to, but haven't set up a yelp account yet.

Looks like some people weren't happy.

FWIW, they lose at least 50% of their chicks, 80% of their poults and peachicks. I used to go in there and clean of the butts of chicks with pasty butt, but not anymore, way too stressful. Yesterday it looked like one of the young peacocks had pneumonia.

What grinds me is I know animal control and the State tester are there often, yet nothing is ever done. You should see the hot house in the back where they breed bunnies.

More info...

The latino man that works there is under paid, over worked. He's usually the only one there and he's responsible for opening, some feeding watering, incubating, answering phones, keeping track of stock (no computer), loading hay and grain, answering questions, etc. Can he be rude? Yes, I've seen it happen, but catch him on a day when it's slow and he'll be very nice to everyone.

They do buy and sell sick animals, that is a fact. Don't think I've ever been there when there wasn't a dead or dying chick in one of the cages. Pretty sure the chicks die from coccidiosis, not sure about the adults.

I'm hoping you have posted about this place in the Northern California forum so BYC people near you, at least, are warned?

It's crazy that Animal Control and the state tester don't do anything...on the other hand, I can't imagine what kind of horrible scenarios they see all the time.

I've eluded to it on the Nor Cal forum, maybe I should be blunt? Animal control probably does see some horrible things and with the price of hay, it's sure to get worse. They've already had 30 "stray" horses that they've had to deal with. The tester, not sure what sort of things they're used to seeing, but they're only concern is Bird Flu and pullorum, I think.
