Any Clues To what Killed my flock of 5?

I had fox problems, they always took the chicken, never killed others or left bodies....dogs will kill them for sport with no intention of eating them! Without tracks or game camera's, its all speculation though. Sorry for your loss!

Fox usually grab one and run. Dogs kill everything and leave it lay. You need to deal with the stray dog. Sorry your chickens died that way.

Awww, I'm so sorry. It's always hard losing birds. It looks like a dog probably got them. However, what kind of coop do you have? as you said before, it wasn't securely closed. I've had a dog get one of my birds and she looked like that. How far away were they from your coop? I just had a friend lose her 6 chickens in one day... no clues no nothing, they just disappeared. We were thinking a fox got them. I hope you find the culprit.

If one person lost 6 chickens, it was probably more than one animal involved.

not fox, not coyote, either one would have carried off at least one of the chickens.
foxes hit and run. I never saw a fox do this.
I can't say about coyotes because my dogs
keep all preds away..
the fox trouble I had was pre LGD.

I am betting it was a dog..

I would have said possibly a weasel, but there are too many feathers scattered about. and a weasel would have ate at least a little bit.

I'm thinking dog. Don't fox usually leave blood?

Two days ago a fox came and killed two of my 3 week old Chicks...He stashed one and ran off with the other...The one I found had no blood on it, not even wet from the Foxes mouth..It died in my hands...

I also have a Maremma and a Golden Retriever/ Aussie that are trained to protect my Birds...They were inside when my attack happened..I know, dogs are not much good if inside ...I just put them in the basement for non stop barking..

the only time my Maremma's bark is when they are supposed to.
you have to listen to them.
their job is to bark.
If one or the other of mine decides to bark all night, I sleep all the better knowing it is doing it's job.
sometimes they can hear a coyote that you can't hear.. as long as they bark, the unwanted animals stay away..
