I have 12 Delawares. Only 3 have names: Tommy, Katie, and Grace. we have a number of hens that we are keeping, and I'd like to have names for them. I'm terrible at thinking up names. Tommy and Katie just came to me because the Fair theme at our fair was Blue Jeans and Country Dreams, and I decided to name them after 2 people in a country love song. She's In Love With the Boy by Trisha Yearwood. And, Grace, well, she's just not graceful. she tripped over her own 2 feet. Any Cute Ideas are Welcome. I have one named Taco, too. Just becasue it's a funny name.

We've only named 5 of our 6 so far. I tend to look for either character or physical traits to come up with names. The first was Gabby...she's the dominant one and really "talks" a lot. One is quite a bit lighter colored the all the others, so she became Blondie. The one lowest on the pecking order tends to have some thin spots in her feathers and DH named her Bald Brenda. Patches has a large light patch on her throat. We changed the name of one...she was Vee because she had a good sized V shaped patch of lighter feathers just behind her head, but she's the one who takes the lead at checking new things out...first in the new coop, first to figure out how to get out of the run (till we fixed that), so she's now Dora the Explorer, LOL.

Well, we named all 25+ of our chickens. I don't know how, lol, but each and every chicken has a name! Some of these names are from our chickens that are dead. We lost a lot of chickens to predators... especially dogs!

We had a bird named Phoenix at one time. She had a heat stroke though. She was a delaware who'd fluff out her neck feathers like an eagle when you'd pick her up. but other than fluffing up her feathers, she didn't do much aside from cluck a little when you picked her up.
