Any egg-laying hen in Southern California?

I live near Los Angeles, California. I want to keep a hen in my backyard. So, it must be docile, egg-laying and not flying too much. People suggest Orphington be a very good choice. Orphington breed would be great if there is any available. If not, I will consider others as well.
