Any Experience with Ordering Started Pullets?

Holy cow! Exceeded my expectations. They are here and are chowing down in their run. One of them is HUGE. As big as my 3 year old hens. And they are only suppose to be between 12 and 16 weeks. Beaks look fine. The smaller of the two has a shortened beak but I wouldn't have been able to tell a difference if I hadn't known to look for it.

Awesome. I am in line at the PO now!!

They are here and beautiful. Although I really wanted some wheat colored EEs, I think mine are beautiful! One pure white and one black, gray and white with a little wheat color on her chest. They appear to be in good health and have just started eating. Haven't drank anything yet, though. I'm sure they will find the water soon!

Their beaks look great! Like you said, if you didn't know any better, they look "normal"
I am very pleased!

Oh my goodness. They are beautiful! Crazy how they can be different colors. Mine have eaten and are trying to figure out the water. We have chicken cups and it's clear they were raised on chicken nipples. They keep peeking the bottom of the cup. I may toss in a regular waterer for them until they get the hang of it.

Now mixing them in and the wait for eggs!

I put mine in the brooder so that I can keep an eye on them for a couple of days before putting them in their coop. I think they are a little confused by the shredded paper and the waterer but I am sure they will adjust! The grey one looks much older than the white. So, I think she will be the first to lay whenever that is.

Are you keeping them separate from your other girls? If so, for how long?

I can't believe the size difference between our sets. There is no way mine would fit or even stay in my brooder! They are in the run that I've closed off from the other chickens. Lots of interest from my established flock. I will keep them separate for a couple of days just to ease stress and then add them one night. The EE's tower over even my biggest girl so they should be able to hold their own. I think a change in peeking order might be close at hand.

I had 22 babies in March, so my husband and I built a 4x6x4 brooder. It is bigger than the temporary coop I have for these 2 outside. These girls appear to be bigger than my Dominiques and Golden buffs and about the same as my other girls, who are all 11 weeks. The rest of mine are larger breeds. I am going to keep them in the brooder until Sunday and then move them out to the small coop for a couple of weeks. Adding the 2 to a flock of 22 makes it more risky. Their small coop and run are close to the big run so that they can all see and hear each other. Hopefully, that will ease the transition.

Good luck with yours! Please keep me posted on their progress!!

I have kind of a split flock of 5. Three in one and 2 in the other. They tolerate each other, but less than a mob of 22! Good luck to you as well. Look forward to hearing what color your eggs are!
