Any Family History Enthusiasts here?

Hello I am new to the forum and I have done the ancestry DNA test a while back also have documents that have been passed down through my maternal grandfathers line (Gustin) and eventually to the Le Rossignols of the Isle of Jersey 1500s. Even has a section on how I am related to George Washington but not a direct descendant.

@td7590, Welcome to The Forum! I'm into family history too. I have some interesting stories about stuff I found.

I had an ancestor who crossed the plains with the Willie Martin handcart company. Also had an ancestor from Austria who left a lot of gardening secrets in a document, a lot of which I have tested, with surprising results.

I also found an interesting story behind my last name, Nicholes. Apparently, long ago, I had an ancestor named Josiah Nichols. If I recall, he did something, and in order to escape the law, he put an e in his last name, so he could say, "Josiah Nichols doesnt live here. This is the Nicholes residence." It worked, and the name stuck.

I also had a great great grandfather who was a chemistry teacher. Another interesting story about that. Its on this thread somewhere.

My mom’s paternal line was Hicks for at least a thousand years then changed to Stevens during the Great Depression so they could continue selling cotton on sundays.:pop
