Okay this is my first time hatching chicks and I have two duck eggs and nine chicken eggs in my incubator. I candle them once a day but I honestly don't know what I should be looking for. I don't know if the eggs are fertile either and I don't want rotten eggs sitting in my incubator. They've only been in there for three days now, but they've been sitting out at room temperature for four. I'm scared that the eggs are dead, but also I could be wrong because I've never done this before. When I candle the eggs they look exactly like they did on day one except maybe a little darker. So if anybody has a good place for reference where I can see day by day candling pics then it'll really put my nervs at ease. Also any advice is much appreciated. These are my own chickens eggs. I have the temp in the incubator att 99.5 to 102. It's a still air incubator. Thank you so much <3

You can incubate eggs safely that have sat at room temperatures for a week. After that the hatch rate starts going down a little up to day 10 or so, I wouldn't worry about yours. Flashlights can get very hot very quickly so it's really not for the best interest of the chicks to be handled and candled too frequently as the heat from the light can kill an embryo and unless you are very careful to wash your hands before you handle your eggs, bacteria can attack them. Most people candle on days 7,14 and 18 unless there is a problem. Every time you open your incubator you are letting out precious humidity. I would leave them alone and candle on those 3 days. Good luck.
